Join virtual grid and climate planning discussions, Piscataquis County meeting

BANGOR and PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Versant Power will provide updates on its integrated grid planning and climate vulnerability study through a pair of virtual meetings this month. Piscataquis County customers also are invited to learn about how the company is planning for future grid needs, climate resilience, and other topics of interest at a community meeting in Milo.

Versant Power is conducting in-depth grid and climate planning processes, as directed by recent legislation and the Maine Public Utilities Commission, LD 1959, An Act Regarding Utility Accountability and Grid Planning for Maine’s Clean Energy Future.

Upcoming meetings include:

Introduction to Versant Power’s Integrated Grid Planning process: 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14. RSVP for Microsoft Teams link at [email protected] (with “Grid Planning” in the subject line).

Update on Versant Power’s Climate Vulnerability Study: 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19. RSVP for Microsoft Teams link at [email protected] (with “Climate” in the subject line).

Anyone interested in the details of Versant Power’s grid and climate planning processes is encouraged to join these conversations.

Versant Power also is continuing a series of community meetings throughout northern and eastern Maine, with focus on the following topics:

  • Who is Versant Power, and what is the utility’s role in grid and climate planning?
  • What are the grid and climate planning processes, and how do they affect me?
  • How do I get more involved and/or offer feedback?

A Piscataquis County community meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, at Three Rivers Kiwanis of Milo/Brownville, 15 Harris Pond Road, Milo. RSVP at [email protected] (with “Milo” in the subject line).

Versant Power staff will be available at community meetings to discuss any energy issues of interest. All feedback on the grid planning process will be documented and considered. Surveys also will be shared to help Versant Power better understand individuals’ specific concerns and areas of interest.

Versant Power provides electric delivery service to two areas – the Bangor Hydro District and the Maine Public District.

            The Bangor Hydro District includes Hancock, Piscataquis and Washington Counties and most of Penobscot County.
            The Maine Public District serves Aroostook County and a small piece of Penobscot County.
